Quarter 4 Independent Reading
Title: The Outsiders
Author: S.E Hinton
This quarter, our independent reading assignment was to create a lively book discussion about any book. We chose the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton.
The Outsiders is about a young boy, thrown into the world of gangs. A world he desperately tries to flee. The story follows only a couple of weeks of Ponyboy's (the main character) harsh life.
In this book discussion we talk about the theme, summary and characters of the book.

Quarter 3 Independent Reading
Title: Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Author: Stieg Larsson
For my third quarter IRP, I decided to present the book Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. The book is about the mystery of Harriet Fisher, a mystery that hasn't been solved for over 30 years. As two completely different people come together to solve this puzzle, they find out many dangerous secrets about the family that brings them closer to the case, at the cost of risking their lives.

Maycomb Tribune Newspaper
During English we split into groups and created our very own Maycomb Tribune. We wrote about many of the events that occurred in To Kill a Mockingbird. We also tried to make it look old by making it black and white and using advertisements that were published around 1930s. We tried to seem biased in the newspaper by siding with Mayella Ewell and trying to make her look like an innocent girl (which was quite hard to do), this prejudice was present during the times of the book, which is why the newspaper feels so authentic while reading it. Hope you enjoy! =)
To Kill a Mockingbird - Character Poster
One of our assignments while reading To Kill a Mockingbird was to make a character poster that described the selected character in words and quotes. Jee Oong and I chose the character: Jem Finch.
Open Mind Poster
In class we made open mind posters about characters. This is my open mind poster fo Boo Radley, a significant character in the book To kill a Mockingbird.
Travel Article - China
As part of our school curriculum, grade 9 separated and ventured out to various different locations all over the world to experience their unique culture. I was lucky enough to go to China. This travel article shows some of the many wonders I witnessed there.
